Description: Learning about organizational development processes will help you focus on how your organization gets work done effectively and efficiently all while maintaining a healthy work environment and culture. Most nonprofit organizations are concerned with achieving their vital missions and bettering the world, but not necessarily with the nuts-and-bolts of running an organization. However, you need well-run organizations to keep your good work going long-term, and high-quality prevention professionals need to be supported by healthy, vibrant organizations! Learning about the essentials of organizational development will help you to build important strategies that will strengthen your prevention organization and improve your long-term results. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Define organizational development within the context of a prevention organization.
  • Articulate why implementing active organizational development strategies is important to the viability of prevention organizations.
  • Identify a minimum of 3 organizational development strategies that, when conducted strategically, will strengthen the organizational functions of prevention organizations.

Presenter: Ericka Harney PhD, CAE, CFRE, GPC, CVA
Dr. Ericka Harney has over 21 years of experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, and strategic planning. She is responsible for successful fundraising and grant awards of over $35 million. She has educated thousands, served as a federal grant reviewer, co-founded a social enterprise, and was an executive director. At Harney & Associates, Ericka serves a variety of clients around the country. She is also a National Trainer for Grant Writing USA and an Assistant Professor at Future Generations University. Ericka is a Certified Association Executive (CAE), Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), a Grant Professional Certified (GPC), and a Certified Volunteer Administrator (CVA). Her Ph.D. is in Organizational Leadership concentrating on Nonprofit Leadership from Eastern University. She received her Master of Arts in Communication from the University of Kentucky, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Bachelor of Science in Communication.
