Description: Haphazardly seeking and applying for grant funding for your prevention organization is an inefficient use of your time and most likely would result in unsuccessful grant applications. Funders want to meet community needs and solve community problems. The key is to identify the needs the funder is prioritizing and demonstrate how meeting that need will make a positive impact on those you serve. This session will provide intermediate prevention professionals with a clear and concise methodology to make hard decisions easier and better decision making in your grant endeavors will save you invaluable time and resources.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe why every organization should avoid mission creep.
  2. Illustrate how you assess and build an organization’s grant readiness.
  3. Explain steps in deciding whether or not to apply for a grant opportunity.
