Description: 

This training offers prevention professionals an insightful exploration into the critical intersection of personal well-being and effective service provision. Participants will dive into foundational concepts such as the parallel process and professional wellness, gaining a deeper understanding of the dynamics between the provider's own state of being and their ability to effectively support the populations they serve. The session provides an overview of professional wellness concerns including stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue. Through framing wellness as an investment, attendees will learn practical strategies to achieve professional wellness, such as self-care practices, cultivating social support, and work-life harmony. Additionally, the training will demonstrate how to leverage the parallel process to benefit both the provider and the individuals they support, through techniques like modeling, co-regulation, and environmental support.

Learning Objectives:

1) Participants will be able to describe the parallel process and the role it plays within prevention service provision.
2) Participants will be able to define professional wellness and explain the concepts of workplace stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout.
3) Participants will be able to identify strategies for supporting their individualized wellness needs.
