This 8-week course is meant for those new to the field of prevention to prepare them for the workforce and credentialing. Participants will gain knowledge of basic prevention theory and its application in communities.

Starts July 11th, 2024- Ends Sept 17th, 2024

Skipping July 18th for CADCA & August 1st for OCAM conference

Thursday from 9am-12:15pm for 8 weeks!

This 8-week course is meant for those new to the field of prevention to prepare them for the workforce and credentialing. Participants will gain knowledge of basic prevention theory and its application in communities. Upon completion of the series, participants will have earned 3 hours in each of the content areas for the Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist Assistant credential, as well as Cultural Competency. After this course, participants will only need an additional 24 hours to meet the minimum required to obtain their certificate. Prior to beginning the series, participants should have applied for or have obtained their Registered Applicant from the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board.

Learning Objectives:

1.Participants will be able to identify basic prevention terminology and definitions.
2.Participants will be more prepared to effectively deliver prevention services.
3. Participants will understand the use of various prevention strategies and how to implement them with effectiveness.
