Description: The Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) is the main prevention planning tool developed by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Whether you are involved with direct services, coalition work, or community-wide prevention interventions, the SPF can be helpful in planning and organizing prevention strategies. Understanding how to implement the SPF can improve services as well as inform best practices in prevention.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to paraphrase the five steps and 2 guiding principles of the SPF process.
  2. Participants will practice implementing the SPF in at least 1 situation.
  3. Participants will understand one way to collaborate using the SPF process.
