Description:

Most of us, if not all, have experienced trauma in some form. This training will provide prevention professionals with the tools needed to mitigate potentially traumatic messaging or projects as they deliver programming and/or build strategies for community change. Participants will receive an introduction to key principles and assumptions for trauma informed approaches and feel empowered to use this knowledge in the work they do in their prevention work.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will develop a shared understanding and language of trauma
  • Participants will be able to describe the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences
  • Participants will be able to discuss the three Es of trauma: events, experiences, and effects and how they relate to individual impact
  • Participants will construct new ways to approach their prevention practice to incorporate trauma informed approaches
