3 Hours
Domains: P6: Prevention Science/Professional Growth & Responsibility
Description:
Schools are full of potential for creating meaningful prevention programming. While many school prevention efforts may focus on prevention education and alternative activities - there are vast opportunities for creating a comprehensive system of prevention - one which uses all six CSAP strategies. In this session we will explore each of the six CSAP strategies (Education, Alternatives, Problem Identification and Referral, Environmental, Information Dissemination, and Community Based Process) and identify tangible ways that you can use them in your school setting. We will discuss best practices for each, and identify examples of how they have been used in the past. Building strong prevention programs, incorporating each of the six CSAP strategies, better supports the youth in our schools. Whether you are an educator, or a prevention professional, this session is sure to have something meaningful for you.
Learning Objectives:
- Be able to define the three CSAP strategies.
- Be able to identify two examples of effective interventions for each of the six CSAP strategies.
- Be able to apply the CSAP strategies to planning comprehensive prevention programming in your school
