Teaching Others How to Improve Facilitation & Time Management Skills
Event Summary
CEUs: Prevention, CHES
1.5 Hours
Domains: PS1: Personnel Supervision & Program Management
Description:
Prevention professionals regularly lead classroom lessons, deliver trainings, facilitate coalition meetings, and guide community conversations, often within tight time frames and with groups that vary widely in age, background, and engagement. This session equips participants not only to strengthen their own facilitation and time management practices but also to coach colleagues and supervisees in doing the same. Participants will explore core facilitation techniques including strategies for managing group dynamics and practical tools for planning agendas, pacing content, and staying on schedule without sacrificing meaningful engagement.
Learning Objectives:
1) Apply time management strategies, such as timed agendas, content prioritization, and pacing checkpoints within an allotted time frame.
2) Demonstrate techniques for managing common group dynamics while keeping the session on track.
3) Discuss coaching opportunities when teaching facilitation and time management skills to a colleague or supervisee.
4) Discover how to engage in structured observation and provide feedback when working to assess and improve another facilitator's skills.
