Description: 

This training is for beginners who are interested in learning the basics of gambling and problem gambling. Participants will be provided with an overview of gambling activities available in Ohio as well as protective factors, risk factors and warning signs related to problem gambling. This session will also help professionals understand the nuances related to Ohio gambling regulatory bodies and the rules and guidelines specific to gambling advertisements, promotion, age restrictions, and consumer protections. Time will also be spent discussing psychology and cognitive distortions as it pertains to how gambling behaviors can be influenced.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn about definitions related to gambling and problem gambling.
2. Discover protective factors, risk factors, warning signs, and the impact of problem gambling.
3. Identify gambling regulatory bodies and rules/laws as they apply to prevention efforts
4. Recognize the psychology behind gambling
