Description:

This course is an extension of the Appalachian Culture training; however, that training is not a prerequisite. After learning about the basics of Appalachian culture, prevention professionals should plan to reach this community in practical ways. Special focus will be placed on the opioid crisis and strategies to impact the consequences.

Learning Objectives:

• Describe the reasons opioid use is prevalent in the Appalachian community
• Analyze the strategies recommended for use
• Create plans to provide prevention services to Appalachian community members
