Alcohol & Other Drug Specific Topics for Prevention Professionals: Marijuana- Myths, Facts, and Controversies

The Alcohol and Other Drug-Specific Topics for Prevention Professionals Series is designed to help individuals understand current issues and drug trends. Participants will explore various topics related to alcohol and other drug use to better understand the process of addiction, its effect on the body, developmental processes, and family systems. This series in its entirety provides 24 hours of AoD specific content, which is the required amount of AoD hours needed to obtain an Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist certification. Participants can choose to attend the entire series or individual sessions as they see fit. Topics include:

o Alcohol and Other Drug-Specific Topics for Prevention Professionals: A Focus on How Depressants Affect the Central Nervous System
(January 26th @ 9am-12:15pm)
o Alcohol and Other Drug-Specific Topics for Prevention Professionals: Alcohol – YES… it IS a Drug
(Feb. 9th @1pm-4:15pm)
o Alcohol and Other Drug-Specific Topics for Prevention Professionals: Marijuana – Myths, Facts, and Controversies

1. Participants will be able to describe the importance of AoD specific prevention.
2. Participants will understand the immediate and long-term effects of misusing alcohol and other drugs.

Note: There are a total of 8 sessions in this series. You may attend one, all, or however many you please. These sessions will occur every other Thursday from January 12th-April 27th, 2023.
