The Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) developed six major prevention strategies. These categories describe effective strategies that prevent behavioral health problems.
CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America) developed the Seven Strategies for Creating Effective Community Change. These strategies assist coalitions and agencies to identify appropriate and timely action steps. These actions steps are part of a comprehensive plan for strategy/intervention implementation.
Both the CSAP Strategies and the Strategies for Creating Effective Community Change are essential to evidence-based prevention. This session will define each strategy and provide examples. Participants will learn how to use both the CSAP 6 strategies and the 7 strategies for creating effective community change to plan, implement, and evaluate data-drive, evidence-based prevention interventions.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will define and provide examples for each of the 6 CSAP Strategies and the 7 Strategies for Creating Effective Community Change.
- Participants will apply both the 6 CSAP Strategies and the 7 Strategies for Creating Effective Community Change to the work they are currently implementing.
- Participants will articulate how the 6 CSAP Strategies and the 7 Strategies for Creating Effective Community Change work in tandem to create community change.
